Hostage protection still applies if you delete your account. This only controls what happens when a subscription payment fails.

Recommended — grace until next check-in

If payment fails, your switches stay armed until the next check-in deadline. If you still have not resolved payment by then (or you check in and decline to pay), cadence packages are released to recipients. Protects against card glitches without trapping a hostage situation forever.

Immediate release on payment failure

If payment fails, armed check-in packages are released to recipients as soon as we learn the subscription ended. Stronger against coercion; higher risk if a card simply declines.
